Lazio emerged last season as a dark horse contender in Serie A. But this season, it has been a different story for the Biancocelesti.
Aside from the team’s current standing in the league table, Lazio has not had it go its way from a defensive standpoint. From miscues to tactical errors, Lazio has struggled to hold off offenses in league play this season.
Lazio has allowed 23 goals through 14 fixtures this season, which is tied with AS Roma and Benevento for the most among teams in the top half of the table.
More so, Lazio’s 23 goals allowed through 14 fixtures is the most through this amount of games in a season since the 1983/1984 campaign when it allowed 26 goals.
Sono 23 i gol subiti dalla Lazio nelle prime 14 giornate del 2020/21, peggior dato degli ultimi 60 anni dopo i 26 del 1983/84 #MilanLazio

Lazio has only kept three clean sheets in league play this season, which is also a concerning number for a team that was supposed to be in the running for a top-four standing over this point in the campaign.
If Lazio aspires to turn its season around, it will begin on the defensive end of the ball.
