Two Lazio Players Feature in The Guardian’s 2020 Edition of Top 100 Footballers

The Guardian recently released its top 100 footballers for 2020.

When it comes to the players from the Lazio squad that were featured, it starts with Ciro Immobile. The 30-year-old striker finished in the top 25 at number 24; ranking ahead of players like Zlatan Ibrahimović, Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling, to name a few.

Lazio only had one other player in The Guardian’s top 100 footballers for 2020. While many assumed that the second player was Sergej Milinković-Savić, it was actually Luis Alberto. The English media outlet placed the Spanish midfielder at number 98.

While Milinković-Savić and Francesco Acerbi were left out of the top 100, the Twitter account Lazio Land revealed that both the Serbian international midfielder and Italian international defender finished within the top 150 at numbers 111 and 141 respectively.

The Guardian’s list is causing some controversy as plenty of Lazio supporters believe that Immobile should be ranked higher than 24th, and Milinković-Savić should be inside the top 100.
