2020 Sees Lazio’s Ciro Immobile Finish Top 10 for Minutes Played in Serie A

It’s no surprise that Lazio leans heavily on Ciro Immobile, and 2020 was no different.

The 30-year-old played 2741 minutes for the Biancocelesti, which put him in the top ten for minutes played in Serie A, according to La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Most of the Lazio striker’s minutes in 2020 came during the first two months of the year and the league’s restart.

In the second half of 2020, Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi took a different approach to use the 30-year-old striker. As the Italian club tried to balance Serie A and the UEFA Champions League in the latter stages of 2020, they couldn’t exhaust Immobile domestically.

According to SofaScoreImmobile has seen his minutes reduced in Serie A as he’s only played 931 minutes, putting him in 19th place as the 2020-21 season hits the midway point.

With Immobile entering his 30’s, it will be interesting to see if Inzaghi tones down the minutes to keep his goal scoring striker fresh or decides to continue using him where he’s among the top players in Serie A when it comes to minutes played.
