Fiorentina may give up on their quest to sign Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo as they identify alternative targets, according to a report from Florence based newspaper La Nazione (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
The report details how the Viola have identified 21-year-old Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca as their main target in next month’s transfer window. The Italian is currently on loan at Genoa but will be heading back to Sassuolo in the upcoming window, ready to move away again on loan.
Sassuolo have already offered Scamacca to Fiorentina, pushing Caicedo down the wish list as it is already clear that the Biancocelesti are not too keen to lose the 32-year-old Ecuadorian forward.
Caicedo features regularly under coach Simone Inzaghi and he would cost around €7-8 million, figures that may be too much for the Florence based club.
Fiorentina are therefore considering different options, with alternatives including Hertha Berlin’s Krzysztof Piątek, Napoli’s Fernando Llorente and Arkadiusz Milik, Shanghai Shenhua’s Stephan El Shaarawy, Cagliari’s Leonardo Pavoletti and Torino’s Simone Zaza.
