Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi has been one top performer for the club in Serie A play so far this season. While Lazio is currently off to a sluggish defensive start, Acerbi is doing his part to help keep the club in games.

The Italian defender currently ranks third in Serie A this season in interceptions per game with a 3.3 figure. He is also posting impressive figures in both clearances won per game (3.5) and tackles won per game (1.8).

For Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti, he is very much appreciative of Acerbi’s play so far this season. More so, Sconcerti is ranking the Italian defender as one of the top defenders over the first half of the campaign. Sconcerti provided (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) his best starting 11 for Serie A this season and added Acerbi.

In my Top 11, I would choose a 4-4-2. I would put Szczęsny in goal, then Acerbi and Koulibaly in the middle. Hernandez and Cuadrado at fullback, Mkhitaryan and Insigne on the flanks. Barella and Pellegrini in the middle, Lukaku and Ronaldo as forwards.

Of course, one could make a case to also including Ciro Immobile in this starting 11. But nonetheless, it is noteworthy that Sconcerti went with Acerbi at the center-back position.
