Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is hoping to start against Genoa this weekend, in the Biancocelesti’s first game of 2021, according to a report from Italian media outlet Cittaceleste.it earlier today.
The report details how the 32-year-old Italian defender, who is contracted to the Roman club until 2023, suffered from the adductor problems at the tail end of this year, forcing him to miss the last three consecutive games against Benevento, Napoli and AC Milan.
The former Sassuolo man will be returning to squad training tomorrow and is hoping that he will be fit enough to start against the Rossoblu on Sunday afternoon.
The 32-year-old Acerbi has made 17 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1468 minutes. In that time, he has provided two assists and helped the side keep two clean sheets.
The Italian international is important for Inzaghi as he is comfortable playing as both a centre back and a left wing back in the 3-5-2 formation, an area that is expected to receive reinforcements next month.
