Next Year Will Be Decisive For Lazio Goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, Italian Media Highlight

Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha will have to impress coach Simone Inzaghi next year to regain his starting spot in Rome, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how the 25-year-old Albanian shot stopper, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2022, has lost his spot in the starting 11 to Spanish veteran Pepe Reina, which coach Inzaghi seemingly preferring the more experienced pair of gloves between the posts.

Strakosha started the season normally for Lazio, playing the first five consecutive games across the league and Champions League, before suffering from Covid-19.

Since then, Reina has proven a consistent goalkeeper for Inzaghi and Strakosha has failed to oust the 39-year-old Spaniard. The Albanian has only made one appearance since October, in a 3-1 loss to Udinese at the end of last month.

2021 will be a decisive year for Strakosha, who will have to earn his spot back in the starting 11 and prove to Inzaghi that he is the definitive shot stopper for the Biancocelesti.
