Former Genoa and Sampdoria coach Gigi Cagni discussed the situation surrounding Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi and if he’ll sign a new contract in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
The feeling, considering my experience as a coach, is that Inzaghi’s cycle is over, but it is not certain that a new cycle with him cannot begin.
What is not justifiable is that there are drops in tension and wrong approaches when the stakes are so high. Tare? One of the best directors, but he has to accept criticism.
Inzaghi’s contract with the Biancocelesti expires at the end of this season, and a supposed renewal has been delayed from the summer to now. It is expected that the 44-year-old Italian coach will either sign a new deal soon or make it clear that he intends to leave at the end of the campaign.
Lazio are currently 8th in Serie A after 14 games, sitting on 21 points, five behind 4th place Sassuolo. The team have fared better in the Champions League, qualifying for the Round of 16 after coming second in their group.
