Lazio Defender Francesco Acerbi Prepared to Sign a New Contract With the Club

Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is prepared to sign a contract renewal with the Biancocelesti, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how the 32-year-old Italian defender, who is currently contracted to the Roman club until 2023, is prepared to sign a new contract with Lazio, tying him to the club until 2025.

Acerbi has been one of the most important players for coach Simone Inzaghi this season, with his strong defensive performances helping the side reach the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

The 32-year-old Italian will return to Formello with the squad today and will test his condition on the pitch, hoping to return against Genoa this weekend.

Acerbi has made 17 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1468 minutes. In that time, he has provided two assists and helped the side keep two clean sheets.

The Lazio defender has missed the last three games of 2020 due to adductor problems but now feels ready to return.
