Lazio’s Caicedo Intends to Leave Next Month With Fiorentina His Ideal Destination

Lazio forward Felipe Caicedo intends to leave the Biancocelesti next month, with Fiorentina being his preferred destination, according to a report from Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com earlier today.

The report details how the 32-year-old Ecuadorian forward is unhappy that coach Simone Inzaghi did not deploy him against AC Milan in the final game of 2020.

The 44-year-old Italian coach tried to explain himself to Caicedo today, touching on his reasons for not deploying the player, but the Ecuadorian was not interested, both disappointed and unhappy.

Caicedo wants to leave next month as he wants more regular playing time, which he knows that he won’t receive in Rome considering the performances of Ciro Immobile and investment made into Vedat Muriqi.

Fiorentina is the 32-year-old’s ideal destination for a move next month, but the Viola are only willing to pay €5 million for him, which may not be enough for Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito.

CLARIFICATION (20:41 CET): Caicedo’s wife Maria Garcia has published an Instagram story this evening suggesting that the report cited above was “fake news”, which can be seen below.
