Lazio are ready to offer Atalanta forward Papu Gomez a two-year contract in order to keep coach Simone Inzaghi happy, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
The report details how the 32-year-old Argentine forward, who is contracted to the Bergamo based club until 2022, has suffered a complete relationship breakdown with coach Gian Piero Gasperini, and seems destined to leave the club in next month’s transfer window.
Many top clubs are interested in acquired the player, with Inter reportedly in pole position, the report continues, but now the Biancocelesti are prepared to enter the fray.
Lazio want coach Simone Inzaghi to sign a new contract, as his current deal expires at the end of the season, and hope that by signing Gomez he’ll be convinced to put pen to paper.
The Roman club are ready to offer Gomez a two-year contract worth €2 million net per season, the same as Felipe Caicedo, who seems likely to leave next month.
This offer won’t fully please the 32-year-old Argentinian, as he would like a three-year contract, but Lazio remain hopeful.
