Lazio considering signing Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti on loan next month, according to a report from Italian media outlet Cittaceleste.it earlier today.
The report details how the Blaugrana are looking to get rid of the 27-year-old French defender in next month’s transfer window and would be open to a loan deal.
The Biancocelesti are looking to sign a new defender or left wing-back in the upcoming winter transfer window, and considering Umtiti can comfortably play both roles, he would be a convenient option.
The 27-year-old Umtiti is famously injury-prone, having only made three appearances this campaign due to a knee injury.
The 2018 World Cup winner, who is contracted to Barcelona until 2023, has missed an incredible 83 games for the Catalan side since joining from Lyon in 2016.
In total, Umtiti has made 119 appearances for Barcelona in the last four and a half years, with some suggesting that he sacrificed his physical condition in order to appear for France in the 2018 World Cup.
