Lazio Not Looking to Sign Atalanta Forward Papu Gomez in January Transfer Window

Lazio are not looking to sign outgoing Atalanta talisman Papu Gomez in next month’s transfer window, despite reports linking them to the Argentine forward, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today.

The report details how the 32-year-old Argentinian forward, who is contracted to the Bergamo based club until 2022, is set to leave Atalanta after six and a half years, after suffering a complete relationship breakdown with coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Lazio were interested in signing Gomez in the summer of 2018, with coach Simone Inzaghi explicitly requesting the former Catania man, before the Biancocelesti decided to sign the younger and cheaper Joaquin Correa.

The Roman club are not looking to sign Gomez in next month’s window due to both his cost and the needs of their squad, the report continues.

Atalanta want around €10 million for his signature, and the player wants a salary of at least €3 million on a three-year deal.

Lazio’s Serie A squad registration list is already full as well, especially if captain Senad Lulic recovers (as he will take Djavan Anderson’s spot), further confirming that a move is incredibly unlikely for Gomez.
