Lazio forward Felipe Caicedo may be benched against Genoa this weekend, after a heated discussion with coach Simone Inzaghi before Christmas, according to a report from Roman newspaper Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) earlier today.

The report details how the 32-year-old Ecuadorian forward, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2022, was angry at the 44-year-old Italian coach after being left out for the match against AC Milan just before the Christmas break.

Inzaghi tried to break up the argument without much success, and so Caicedo could be punished by being benched against the Rossoblu in this weekend’s Serie A fixture.

Caicedo’s attitude has frustrated Lazio, who have put him on the transfer list. The Roman club would accept an offer of around €5-7 million for him, with Fiorentina keenly interested.

Caicedo has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 582 minutes. In that time, he has scored five goals.
