Despite the year changing, 2021 for Lazio will be much of the same as 2020 since manager Simone Inzaghi will be without a contract once their 2020-21 season comes to an end. Various reports have made it known that both sides discuss a contract extension, but nothing has come to fruition.
Although Lazio owner and president Claudio Lotito is pleased with Inzaghi (as he’s guided the club to the UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16), domestically, Lazio has struggled and remains outside a top-four position (as they currently find themselves in eighth place).
According to Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), both parties will meet next week for a decisive meeting to find an agreement that can see the manager and the club happy.
The Italian media outlet reports that the Biancocelesti will offer an annual salary base of €2.3 million and a €500 thousand Champions League bonus.
In the past, Inzaghi has reportedly made it known that he’d like to be one of Serie A’s better-paid managers. Time will tell if this offer is enough to make him put pen to paper.
