Genoa came into its Serie A fixture against Lazio needing any result to keep its hopes alive at possibly moving away from its current bottom three standing in the table. And in a result that shocked many, Genoa secured a 1-1 draw against the Biancocelesti.

For Genoa defender Davide Zappacosta, there was a general feeling from within his team that it needed to battle throughout the game to clinch a result from the fixture. More so, it was the second half that proved key for his side in preventing Lazio from scoring a second goal, which could have been the game-winner in the match.

Zappacosta spoke about the result in post-game comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

In the second half, we were worse and the wickedness was what we lacked in the previous matches. We faced a great team and kept a great pace. So we put them in difficulty.

As Genoa moves ahead with its aim at surviving the relegation battle, Lazio also looks ahead but with the goal of still possibly making a late top-four run in the league table.
