Italian Journalist Cucchi Credits Lazio for Quality Showing in First Half Against Genoa

Lazio’s Serie A fixture against Genoa was one of two halves. The Biancocelesti scored a key penalty goal off from Ciro Immobile in the first half while also creating several key goal-scoring opportunities. But in the second half, Genoa scored the equalizer while Lazio still struggled to find that second goal.

Italian journalist Riccardo Cucchi watched Lazio’s performance against Genoa and is crediting the side for a quality showing over the first 45 minutes.

But from there, it was all Genoa thanks to its will to score the game-tying goal and ability to preserve the result to a finish.

On Twitter, Cucchi reflected on the fixture where he wrote:

Good Lazio in the first half. But the Inzaghi team is unable to close it. Good Genoa in the second. And the Ballardini team manages to equalize it. Right so. Angular game, many fouls, not beautiful. But competitive.

Lazio will be taking on Fiorentina up next in a key home league fixture. Regardless of the result, Lazio will come away from the fixture at the least in ninth place. But a win could push the side up to seventh place in the league table pending other results on the matchday.
