Lazio’s Serie A woes continued on matchday 15 as the Biancocelesti drew level with Genoa at a 1-1 stalemate. For Lazio, it was the fourth 1-1 result of the season. This was a fixture in which Lazio once again had key chances to put away the fixture, but in the end, it had to settle for the one point from the contest.
Lazio goalkeeper Pepe Reina recognizes that this team still has ways to go in order to pick up its form. Even though Reina feels that his side prepared well for the fixture, the Biancocelesti still could not come away with the pivotal second goal in the match.
Reina reflected on the result in post-game comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.
The match was as we thought and we had prepared it. A match we that from many points of view was done well. We had to better control the long balls and the second balls; they scored a draw on one of them.
We have to grow and improve a lot because this moment of the season is decisive and can give us the opportunity to fight for future goals. We can’t go wrong if we want to hang up. It was a game that we had to bring home.
With the result, Lazio now stands ninth place in the league table. Reina is not focused on the league standings at the moment and simply wants his side to pick up a quality run of games.
We cannot have the mentality heads of others. We have to do ours and work hard. Looking at the others is a useless waste of energy. We must grow as a group and have the desire to take revenge against Fiorentina on Wednesday.
Lazio currently stands at a mere four points above 10th place Benevento.
