Lazio Assistant Coach Farris: “Today It Was About Heart & We Put That on the Pitch”

Lazio assistant coach Massimiliano Farris discussed the Biancocelesti’s key 2-1 win over Fiorentina this afternoon in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) after the game.

Simone Inzaghi apologizes for his absence. At the end of the match, he was voiceless and couldn’t even shout. Today we won a dirty game, probably the one we played least well.

We needed this compact team performance. One example is Milinkovic-Savic’s headed save on the line. Today it was about heart and we put that on the pitch.

He touched on if the Roman club are suffering fatigue in the league.

We have to stop thinking about last year. We lived a dream and everyone knows how it went. Today we’re further behind the other teams because of our Champions League commitments.

The 49-year-old Italian then moved onto discussing the strong performance of Italian striker Ciro Immobile, who netted his 16th goal of the season against the Viola.

Ciro got off to a bit of a slow start this year and then made up for it. The chemistry with Luis Alberto works very well.

This year our opponents have evolved. They study us and try to close in on our best characteristics. These points today are fundamental on a mental level.

The Lazio assistant coach touched on the absences in the squad.

We hope to get our players back as soon as possible. Fares hasn’t fully settled in yet. Lulic is in the history of Lazio. We’d like to have a full squad as soon as possible.

Finally, Farris spoke about the Biancocelesti’s work in the transfer market.

If someone comes up, Simone will talk to the club about him.
