Lazio Assistant Coach Farris: “We’ll Prepare for the Derby After the Battle Against Parma”

Lazio assistant coach Massimiliano Farris spoke about the Roman side’s important 2-1 win over Fiorentina earlier this afternoon in an interview with Italian broadcaster Lazio Style Channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

Today we won a dirty game, led in the first half and played vertically with Immobile, who unfortunately rightly lost a goal due to VAR.

The team, which came from a difficult period, suffered a psychological effect, but we are prepared and we know how to suffer, the saves by Strakosha and Milinkovic-Savic are not accidental.

He commented on the squad’s mentality and their position in the Serie A table after 16 games.

When you want the three points you bring them home with your heart as well as your head.  There’s a unity of purpose.

We’re not stupid, we know our spot in the league table doesn’t reflect our value, we all made mistakes. The hope is that now we’ll get Lulic, Fares and Correa back so we can do well.

The 49-year-old Italian touched on the absence of on loan forward Andreas Pereira in today’s game.

He was supposed to go on in place of Luis Alberto, but when Immobile had a problem we needed Muriqi’s physicality. Obviously, he might feel bad but in the dressing room he was calm, he understood.

Farris spoke about the tactical decision to play the ball out from the defense.

If you believe in it you have to carry it out taking risks, you have to understand the moments when maybe the team doesn’t have the calm to do it.

It’s a line we’ve been following since the start of the season and it’s bearing fruit.

The Lazio assistant coach discussed the upcoming two matches against Parma and Roma.

We’ll have time to prepare for the derby after Parma, although it would be a mistake to think only about the derby because we’ll have a battle against Parma.

Finally, Farris spoke about the physical condition of Italian striker Ciro Immobile, who scored his 16th goal of the season against the Florence based club.

I think he’s ok, tomorrow we’ll make the necessary assessments. He took a few knocks today, in a normal game he would have been applauded by our fans, we wanted to give him some rest.
