Lazio defender Stefan Radu discussed his new Biancocelesti record for Serie A appearances, the importance of the 2-1 win against Fiorentina and goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha in an interview with Italian broadcaster Lazio Style Channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
It’s exciting, now in February it’ll be 13 years that I’ve been here at Lazio and I made my debut against Fiorentina winning 2-1. Today another win to celebrate 320 appearances in this shirt.
The 34-year-old Romanian centre back then commented on how vital today’s three points are.
It’s less important to look good as we’ve looked good lately but we’ve earnt only a few points. Today Lazio were perhaps uglier but, in the end, we brought home the result, we’re very happy.
We’re still behind in the league table but I think that if we win two or three games, we can get back to fighting for the top places.
The Lazio defender commented on his goals and the upcoming match against Parma.
The only goal is always to win the next game, I’m not aiming for records but to leave something here at Lazio.
For me now, it’s only important to win in Parma. We’re not meeting expectations, now it’s only important to bring home the three points.
Finally, Radu spoke about Albanian shot stopper Thomas Strakosha, who returned to the pitch for the first time since the end of November.
Unfortunately, I didn’t expect to get that ball because of the pressure Fiorentina were putting on, I was turned and didn’t see anything. It’s a good thing it ended up like that.
Thomas doesn’t have any problems though, he played very well today, he even saved the game at 1-0. He is calm and serene, we have two great goalkeepers and the coach rightly decides who to play.
