Stefan Radu Sets New Lazio Record for Total Serie A Appearances With 320

Lazio defender Stefan Radu has made 320 Serie A appearances for the Biancocelesti, setting a new record for the Roman club, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today.

The report details how the 34-year-old Romanian centre back, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until the end of the season, has now made 320 league appearances for the club since his arrival in the summer of 2008.

He has overtaken former forward Aldo Puccinelli, who made 319 appearances. This figure is debatable, however, as it would require not including the games in the 1945/46 season, which was the first tournament after the end of World War 2.

Teams from Italy were split into two separate leagues, a Northern Italy Serie A and a Central and Southern Italy Serie A-B.

In that season Puccinelli appeared in all 20 games, therefore taking his overall total to 339, but the inclusion of Serie B teams in that league and the overall unique nature means that the record is now held by Radu instead, as all of his league appearances were in the normal Serie A tournament.
