Fiorentina came into its Serie A fixture against Lazio in much need of a win. The Viola had just reeled off of a run of one win in its previous 10 fixtures. More so, the side continued to drift more and more towards a bottom five standing in the league table. But in the end, it was the Biancocelesti that was able to pick up a close but vital 2-1 win over Fiorentina.
For Fiorentina manager Cesare Prandelli, this was certainly a disappointing result for his side, but he is giving credit to Lazio for such an arduous win.
The Italian manager spoke about the result in comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.
We had an excellent performance from many points of view. We conceded two goals that we could easily have avoided because they were naive.
There is bitterness but also the awareness that this is the right team. Lazio is a great team that has played together for many years and participates in the Champions League.
For Lazio, this is a win that could possibly turn around its season. The Biancocelesti will now look ahead to a fixture against Parma with an opportunity to pick up back-to-back wins.
