After a run of sluggish results in Serie A play, Lazio clinched a much-needed 2-1 win over Fiorentina on matchday 16. The win was far from effortless, especially as Fiorentina scored a late goal to make for an intriguing finish. But in the end, Lazio did just enough to hold on for the narrow one-goal margin win.

Former Italian defender Giancarlo Oddi took note of the fixture and his simple takeaway is that the Biancocelesti picked up a much-needed three points. But for Oddi, he sees that this win could give the side a possible late route to a top-four finish in the league standings.

Oddi provided his brief analysis on the win and how much the side needed these three points from the match, with comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

There was danger because Fiorentina came from some good result. But we saw the technical difference, even if we struggled until the end.

Lazio have taken a good step forward with this victory. It takes time to get to fourth place. I will always say that this is an irregular championship, let’s say anomalous. With the fans it would be something else, now it’s a much more balanced league.

Lazio now has an upcoming key league fixture against Parma where a winning streak could be on the horizon.
