Journalist Mancini: “Caicedo Is a Certainty for Lazio, He’s Needed at the Moment”

Italian journalist Riccardo Mancini discussed Lazio’s current position, the January transfer window and the situation surrounding Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caicedo in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

On a performance level it wasn’t a great game, but it was important for Lazio to do this. A dirtier Lazio, less beautiful but more practical and effective. They realised the chances that Fiorentina conceded. I saw a lot of heart and personality.

Compared to the team we saw last year, I see fewer certainties. The squad is less solid in defense, and this makes them shaky. There’s also fatigue in the best men, I’m talking about Luis Alberto for example. Lazio isn’t the same without him, and this year it’s been a bit of a flurry.

He touched on the performances of Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

I always expect a lot from him, he has to take the extra step. He’s shown that he’s a great player, right now he has to give something more.

The Italian journalist then spoke about what the Roman club should look to achieve in this month’s transfer window.

Lazio must do something, Tare has often denied it but it may be a tactic. Lulic can’t return for a month and a half. We need someone on the wing, someone like Biraghi would be very useful for Lazio.

Finally, Mancini spoke about Felipe Caicedo, who has been linked with moves to Fiorentina and Inter.

Fiorentina are interested, but Pradè’s statements are just window dressing. I wouldn’t sacrifice someone like him, not even to get Biraghi.

Lazio already have Immobile who isn’t in great shape, and Muriqi isn’t performing as expected. Caicedo is a certainty, he’s needed at the moment.
