Lazio forward Felipe Caicedo is one player who has done much to make the most of his opportunities as of late. With Joaquin Correa missing the last three fixtures due to a calf injury, Caicedo has moved into the role of filling the center-forward spot upfront next to Ciro Immobile.

The Ecuadorian forward is stepping up his performances as of late with goals scored in back-t0-back fixtures.

For some, Caicedo’s recent showings have brought forth a debate on who deserves to start upfront next to Immobile. For former Lazio forward Bruno Giordano, his choice is clear.

The former Italian talent spoke about Caicedo and also on why Correa should still be a regular starter for the team, with comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

He is trying to steal Correa’s place. He has always worked in silence, with great humility. In the end, the results, if you work like this, will come.

At 100%, however, I always prefer Correa next to Immobile, he manages to undermine the defenses. Caicedo is a nice alternative.

Lazio will have the Rome Derby up next where manager Simone Inzaghi is slated to face multiple tactical dilemmas such as this one.
