Lazio Loanee Jordan Lukaku: “I Have Always Had a Good Relationship With Inzaghi”

Antwerp forward Jordan Lukaku had a rollercoaster run over his first five seasons at Lazio. From injury issues to underperformances, the Belgian forward was not able to find his footing and establish a place with the team.

Now at Antwerp, it has not all gone Lukaku’s way so far over his current one-season loan stint. He has not scored a goal in all competitions while also missing time due to injury.

Lukaku is slated to return to Lazio at the end of the season following his current loan run with Antwerp. But had not been for one issue while at Lazio, Lukaku would have not even made this loan move, which he detailed in speaking to the Belgian-based outlet La Capitale (via La Lazio Siamo Noi).

If I had been fit, 100% of the condition, I would still be at Lazio.

More so, Lukaku also reflected on last season with Lazio. The forward notes that a possible move was imminent.

I still have one year on my contract, I don’t know what will happen. I have always had a good relationship with Simone Inzaghi.

Last summer I felt there was suddenly a different attitude towards me. The advice was to move to Watford, but I didn’t want to.

It will be interesting to see whether Lukaku will go on to finish his contract with Lazio next season or if another loan move may be on the horizon.
