Roma forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan discussed the upcoming Derby della Capitale against Lazio on Friday evening in an interview with Rome based newspaper La Repubblica (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
The 31-year-old Armenian forward, who is contracted to the Giallorossi until 2021, spoke about how this will be his first Rome derby and if he has studied past ones.
I don’t like watching old games, I’ve heard my teammates talk about it, but you don’t need words to explain it to a player. We’re ready for a battle.
Mkhitaryan, who joined Roma on a free transfer from Arsenal in the summer transfer window, has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1675 minutes.
In that time, he has scored nine goals and provided 10 assists, being one of the Giallorossi’s most important attacking threats.
Roma are currently 3rd in Serie A after 17 games, sitting on 34 points, six behind league leaders AC Milan.
Lazio, on the other hand, are sitting in 8th place in the table with 28 points. Both clubs have earnt 10 points from their last five league outings.
