Former Italian Midfielder Fiore: “It Has Been a Different Lazio Since the Lockdown”

Former Italian midfielder Stefano Fiore has watched as Lazio went from being a clear-cut contender in Serie A last season to now currently standing outside the top four in the league table this season.

Fiore has noticed differences between Lazio from last season to the one currently riding an up-and-down campaign over this season. The former Lazio talent spoke about the differences and what could be needed to spark the team, with comments being relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Last year Simone [Inzaghi] had created something unique and fantastic. The team was heading towards the championship victory. After the lockdown, it was a different Lazio, which found itself short in terms of staff.

I think Lazio would need a breath of fresh air, some more players to aspire to last year’s season. The passage of the round in the Champions League has certainly removed energy and resources from Inzaghi’s men, moreover, it has become a fairly recognizable team. With the market, we will see if it will be able to take something different, alternatives to the usual suspects, Immobile above all, to which the full weight of the attack cannot be attributed.

Ciro Immobile sure has had to carry much of the load in the attack.

It remains to be seen whether Lazio’s board has any plans to reinforce the attack in the winter transfer window.
