Tonight Lazio will take on Roma in the first Derby della Capitale behind closed doors in the Covid-19 era, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how no fans will be allowed inside the Stadio Olimpico to watch the match, as Rome is in the ‘Yellow Zone’ in Italy, an area actively combatting the spread of Covid-19.

One of the most appreciated aspects of the Rome derby is the passion and support of the fans, who create beautiful choreographies, and this will be sorely missed this season. It has been monikered the ‘Derby a Domicilio’ (Derby at Home).

Last season both Rome derbies escaped the Covid-19 pandemic. There is hope that the return fixture will be able to have some fans present inside the stadium, depending on the health situation.

Roma are currently 3rd in Serie A after 17 games, sitting on 34 points, eight ahead of 8th place Lazio.
