With two goals against AS Roma in the Derby della Capitale, Luis Alberto was the star in Lazio’s win over their rival. The 28-year-old became the first Biancocelesti player to score multiple scoring in a home derby against Roma since Roberto Mancini in 1998.
After Lazio’s 3-0 win over Roma, Luis Alberto spoke with Sky Sport, where Corriere dello Sport relayed his words. One of the first comments that the Spain international touched on was how significant the victory was for Lazio as they hope to climb their way to the top of the Serie A standings.
For us it was very important to win today, in Serie A we weren’t doing well, we went through a bad period, but in recent weeks we have seen a different team. We improved and today we proved it with a winning mentality.
Luis Alberto then touched on his performance and hopes Lazio can continue to pick up wins against those in front of them in the standings.
Now we will hope to continue like this to grow. We are improving against the big names, we cannot lose our concentration if we want to win. It is said that I don’t score a lot, but I help the team. For this reason, I’m happy that I scored.
The Biancocelesti sits in seventh place but are only two points out of fourth place, guaranteeing them UEFA Champions League football next season. If Lazio can carry this form for the remainder of the season, it’s not crazy to imagine them finishing in the top four.
