Luis Alberto was the star of the fixture in Lazio’s 3-0 win over AS Roma, so it’s not often that Ciro Immobile plays the sidekick. Nonetheless, the 30-year-old striker contributed with the opening goal at the 15th minute, and the Biancocelesti didn’t look back.
After the fixture, Immobile spoke with the media, where Corriere dello Sport relayed his words. One of the first comments that the Lazio striker made was over the importance of the win and playing without the supporters.
We had a crazy, exceptional game, that was played at the highest of levels. We are satisfied, our fans will be proud of us. This was an atypical derby, living it without fans was really strange, but their showing outside Formello was very important for us. We gave our best on the pitch to make them proud of us. It was also important for the standings and we gave a great response team
Immobile then commented on wanting to celebrate this Derby della Capitale victory with friends and family. Furthermore, he also spoke about getting the better of Roma despite their rival experiencing a good run in form as they’re in third place in Serie A.
Each of us will celebrate in the family. I am happy about the performance; we have put Roma in check. This year, we have lost some points by approaching matches against lower opposition the wrong way. We had to change our form in the championship and we did it in these past three matches.
Finally, the Lazio striker discussed what lies ahead for the squad as they’re three points out of a top-four spot in Serie A. Immobile hopes that the victory over Roma serves as a catapult for Lazio to make their way to the top of the standings.
The Round of 16 of the Champions League was no longer enough. This derby will give us more strength; it gives us strong emotions but we have to stay calm because anxiety takes away your energy.
