Lazio owner and president Claudio Lotito will be meeting with manager Simone Inzaghi to extend the Italian tactician’s stay in Rome, where he’s coached at various levels within the club for the last ten years.
According to Calciomercato, a contract already awaits Inzaghi. The report states that the 44-year-old will have a two-year deal with an option for another season on the table.
Furthermore, the contract’s financial aspects will see Inzaghi earn an annual salary of €2.3-million with the potential to make it €2.8-million if he reaches specific bonuses.
It will be interesting to see whether Inzaghi accepts this deal, considering that the Lazio manager is looking for an annual base salary of €3-million per La Lazio Siamo Noi. Nonetheless, perhaps having two years of security with the possibility of a third is enough job security for Inzaghi to lower his financial demands.
The remainder of January will be crucial in contract talks. Both sides would like to see a deal done as the club looks ahead to the remaining months of the season.
Lazio will not only try to climb their way into a top-four spot in Serie A, but they have a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matchup meeting against FC Bayern Munich.
