The contract discussions between Lazio and manager Simone Inzaghi is a never-ending story that will have a conclusion. Either the Biancocelesti will meet their manager’s financial demands, or they could see him leave.

After a 3-0 win over AS Roma in the Derby della Capitale, Inzaghi is turning the ship around for Lazio. After a tough start to the Serie A season, he has his squad within striking distance of a top-four finish, which would guarantee them UEFA Champions League competition in 2021-22.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the next few days will define whether both sides can agree on a contract extension. It would be in the best interest of Lazio, more so than Inzaghi, to get a deal done.

If Inzaghi can compete or even defeat FC Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 matchup and overcome a slow start domestically to put Lazio back in the Champions League next season, it would only strengthen his financial demands. Nonetheless, Lazio extending their manager sends a clear sign that they believe in him and the direction of the project.
