Lazio picked up one of its more memorable Rome Derby showings in recent years with the 3-0 win over AS Roma. The Biancocelesti scored three key goals and could have added more in the fixture had it taken advantage of its other high percentage goal-scoring opportunities.
For Italian journalist Sandor Piccinini, he notes that this was a strong overall showing from Lazio. More so, he is crediting manager Simone Inzaghi for not only the Biancocelesti’s showing in the Rome Derby but also for how the side has dealt with adversity this season.
Piccinini spoke to Sky Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) about Lazio’s season so far.
Let’s not forget that there are still three points away in the standings. This is because Lazio took breaks, motivated, justified by the many absences and by COVID-19.
Inzaghi has been through all sorts of colors. Then they focused a lot on the Champions League, so he has some mitigating circumstances for those lost points.
The win for Lazio gave the side hope that it can still be a challenger in the race for a top-four spot in Serie A this season. Still, the Biancocelesti would need to continue to churn out positive results over this portion of the league season.
