Lazio’s performance against AS Roma in the recent edition of the Rome Derby has been lauded by many. And for good reason.

The Biancocelesti kept a clean sheet against one of the more in-form attacks in Serie A this season to go along with the fact that the side created multiple high percentage goal-scoring opportunities.

For former Italian defender Ernesto Calisti, he viewed the fixture as a one-sided affair. Calisti notes that Lazio came out as more of the aggressors in what turned out to be one of the biggest wins for the team this season.

Calisti spoke about the result to Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi)

Lazio dominated the derby. It was a one-way match. The result is also a liar, too narrow for what we saw on the pitch.

Lazio can win with everyone. If everyone manages to recover well, it is a strong and experienced squad.

One could argue that this win for Lazio ranks among the top 10 in the Simone Inzaghi managerial era. The Biancocelesti simply came out with the mentality that picking up a win was the only option for the match.
