Lazio Defender Luiz Felipe Advised to Undergo Surgery to Solve Ankle Issue

Lazio defender Luiz Felipe has been advised to undergo an operation on his right ankle, which would force him to remain on the sidelines for the remainder of the season, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how the 23-year-old Brazilian defender, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2022, flew to Germany yesterday to carry out some medical tests. The results were not positive, and an operation has now been suggested to the player.

Luiz Felipe has been struggling for months now due to bone marrow edema and has been in pain since September, the report continues.

The 23-year-old Brazilian could decide to undergo some conservative therapy until June in order to allow him to complete the season, although he would not be able to appear consistently in that case.

Luiz Felipe has made 14 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 927 minutes. In that time, he has provided one assist and helped the side keep three clean sheets.
