Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto was rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy on Tuesday. The operation was successful and the Spanish midfielder remains in the hospital for the time being.

On Instagram, Alberto provided a short update on his condition. He made note of the fact that the operation went well and that fans should be expecting to see him return to the pitch quite soon.

Thank you all for your messages and for your concern. I am already resting and recovering, soon you will see me on the pitch fighting with my teammates.

According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Alberto will at the least miss the team’s upcoming next two matches, including the Coppa Italia knockout stage bout against Parma.

Alberto has been in top form as of late with key goals in fixtures such as in the Rome Derby.
