Lazio Considering Summer Move for Expiring Napoli Defender Nikola Maksimovic

Lazio are considering making a summer move for Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic, as his price this month is too high, according to a report from Rome based newspaper Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how coach Simone Inzaghi asked for the 29-year-old Serbian centre back in this month’s transfer window, after the injury suffered by Brazilian defender Luiz Felipe, but the player’s price was too high.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants around €8-10 million for Maksimovic, a high price considering that his contract expires at the end of the season. Due to this, Lazio are considering making a move to sign the Serbian defender in the summer on a free transfer.

Maksimovic has made 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1025 minutes. In that time, he has helped the side keep four clean sheets.

It is important to note that Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has another player in mind, who is currently unknown, that is also a target for the summer.
