Sokratis’ Agents Contacted Lazio Again Before Coppa Italia Win Yesterday

Lazio need to decide if they want to sign former Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos soon, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today.

The report details how the Greek defender’s agents were in contact with the Biancocelesti ahead of yesterday’s Coppa Italia win over Parma. The Roman club are evaluating the offer now, but cannot wait too long.

Sokratis also has offers from Genoa, Real Betis and Olympiakos, and so Lazio cannot drag their feet as they risk losing out on the 32-year-old.

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi wants a reinforcement to that area of the squad after it was found that Luiz Felipe will need to undergo surgery for his ankle.

His estimated recovery time will become clearer this afternoon, but for now, Lazio are considering their options.

Sokratis is available to sign as a free agent after agreeing to mutually terminate his contract with Arsenal earlier this week.
