This week was a busy one for Lazio as they have two fixtures that they needed to prepare for with a Coppa Italia and league matchup. In their cup match, the Biancocelesti were able to squeak past Parma Calcio with a 2-1 victory.
Vedat Muriqi got the start for Lazio at striker, with manager Simone Inzaghi giving Ciro Immobile the night off for this fixture. The Italian tactician wanted to see if he can jump-start Muriqi as the second half of the Serie A season is underway.
However, that didn’t take place. Muriqi didn’t find the back of the net and has yet to do so in 14 appearances for Lazio.
Former Lazio defender Massimo Piscedda discussed Muriqi’s performance against Parma during an interview with Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi). Piscedda touched on how Muriqi can improve to get out of this goal-less funk that he’s enduring.
It was a slow game. Lazio tried to win it without struggling. They failed to close it, but luckily Muriqi’s header arrived at the end. He has to move more, especially in the penalty area. He must not go back too far because he then fails to collect the crosses in front.
Muriqi is a subject of transfer rumors, and perhaps it’s beginning to affect his performance.
