Lazio wants to reinforce their backline before the winter transfer window closes and have so far had their names associated with the likes of former Arsenal FC defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and FC Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo.
However, another player that’s entering the fold is Napoli’s Nikola Maksimović. The Serbia international is in the middle between Sokratis and Todibo as he’s not too old, but not too young. Furthermore, he already understands Serie A, so there’s no adjustment period to the league and country.

According to Corriere Roma (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Maksimović’s familiarity with Serie A is why Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi is asking the club to pursue the 29-year-old.
The Napoli defenders contract expires at the end of the season, but if the Biancocelesti feel they can’t wait until the summer, they could pay a small transfer fee to bring him in to help them.
Whether it’s Maksimović or someone else, Lazio aims to add some depth to their backline as they prepare for multiple competitions this second half of the season.
