“We Need to Win Games Even When We Don’t Play Well” – Milinković-Savić on Lazio’s Win Over Sassuolo

Lazio began the fixture against U.S. Sassuolo Calcio by playing sloppy defense, which ultimately led to the Neroverdi taking the early 1-0 lead off a goal from Francesco Caputo.

Despite surrendering a goal, the Biancocelesti caught a break because Sassuolo could’ve had two or three goals to start the match. However, after being punched in the face early, Lazio did respond.

At the 25th minute mark, Sergej Milinković-Savić scored off a corner kick set piece to tie the matchup. In the second half, Ciro Immobile scored the second goal for Lazio, who walked away with a 2-1 win and all three points.

Milinković-Savić took to the microphone with Sky Sport (via Corriere dello Sport) to discuss the win over Sassuolo.

Luis Alberto and Luiz Felipe are missing, but we have united to secure a victory, and now we look forward.

We need to win games even when we don’t play well, like today.

Lazio remains in seventh place with 34 points, but two away from fourth place Juventus FC, who have 36. Lazio will have two fixtures this week against Atalanta BC. One in the Coppa Italia quarterfinal and next weekend in league play. If Lazio wants to hop over clubs ahead of them, they’ll need to start beating them, and it will begin with Atalanta.
