Former Napoli and Pescara coach Giovanni Galeone discussed the possible surprise teams in the Serie A title race this season in an interview with Milan based newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

Atalanta are a physically aggressive team, but they have a lot of quality when it comes to ball possession.

In the title race there’s other teams, Napoli and Roma have shown at times that they have their own identity, and Lazio have a consolidated squad and a capable sporting director.

Simone Inzaghi’s Biancocelesti side sit 7th in the league table after 19 games with 34 points, two behind 4th place Juventus. Their strong recent domestic form has helped the team move past their sluggish first half of the season, setting them up for a race for the final Champions League qualification spot.

The Roman club’s next game is against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Wednesday, before they face the Bergamaschi again in the league on the weekend.
