Ex-Defender Bergodi: “Inzaghi’s Contract Renewal With Lazio Is More Than Deserved”

Former Lazio defender Cristiano Bergodi discussed coach Simone Inzaghi’s contract renewal and his future in an interview with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.com earlier today.

I thought Inzaghi’s cycle at Lazio was over, but I’m pleased to see that it’ll continue. And the contract renewal will be more than deserved.

The 56-year-old Italian, who spent seven seasons with the Biancocelesti from 1989 to 1996, then spoke about his own future.

I’ve always been happy in Romania. Of course, I would like to coach in Italy. Also, because I am not an old-fashioned man, I have the right experience. We’ll see.

The 44-year-old Inzaghi’s current contract with Lazio expires at the end of the season and the talks surrounding his contract renewal have caused concern amongst the Biancocelesti faithful this campaign.

Despite delays, however, Inzaghi is finally expected to sign a new deal with the club, potentially a three-year contract with a salary worth €2.5 million net per season.
