Ex-Lazio Forward Paolo Di Canio: “Yesterday’s Win Against Sassuolo Was Fundamental”

Former Lazio forward Paolo Di Canio discussed the Serie A season so far and the Biancocelesti’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo yesterday in an interview earlier today, as reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

I really like the open season. There are so many teams only a few points apart. There are no certainties and anything can happen.

Yesterday’s victory made a big difference. Without yesterday’s three points my opinion of the Biancocelesti would have changed.

The 52-year-old Italian then discussed the importance of yesterday’s win and their work in the Champions League this season.

Winning was fundamental, otherwise the league table would have been very different.

Lazio are in the game in all competitions and have made it through the Champions League group after so many years.

The Roman club’s 2-1 win yesterday means that they are now 7th in the Serie A table after 19 games, sitting on 34 points, two behind 4th place Juventus.

Simone Inzaghi’s side are currently experiencing a period of strong domestic form, having won their last four consecutive league outings.
