Lazio Primavera Coach Menichini: “Wasn’t Easy to Restart After a Long Break”

Lazio Primavera coach Leonardo Menichini discussed the Biancocelesti’s 3-0 defeat to AC Milan in an interview with Italian broadcaster Lazio Style Channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

Against AC Milan unfortunately it didn’t go well, we also paid for the numerous absences, above all Moro’s. We tried to impose our game but we didn’t manage to do so.

They were good at limiting us. Our performance was below our potential but it has to be said that it wasn’t easy to start again after such a long break.

We had prepared it with a high pressing on the opponent, but some important mechanisms were missing. I asked the team to be more aggressive on the second balls, but Milan have quality and they will have their say in the future.

He spoke about the development of 17-year-old Italian winger Simone Castigliani.

He’s growing, we’re working every day to make him improve quickly. Sometimes he holds the ball back too much but these are youth defects that can be eliminated with work.

He has the characteristics to play with anyone. Now we head to Juventus, a difficult match where we will have to give everything

Finally, Menichini discussed the team’s performances away from home and the importance of being comfortable under pressure.

So far, we’ve been better away from home, where we play lighter. At Fersini maybe some feel more pressure but this is part of the growth process.

We have to understand that the Lazio jersey is always heavy, to wear it you need a good dose of personality.
