Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt did not have his best performance during the team’s Coppa Italia quarterfinal fixture against Atalanta.
From defensive errors to positioning issues, Hoedt had a difficult time going up against Atalanta’s high-octane attack. The Dutch defender also committed a penalty in the second half.
Overall, it was a lowly performance from Hoedt.
On Instagram, Hoedt reflected on his performance where he issued an apology to the Lazio supporters for his outing on the day. Hoedt was candid and honest in regard to his overall showing in the Coppa Italia fixture.
I apologize to all the Lazio fans and my teammates. It was my fault that we were eliminated today. Now I can only work with my head down to show you that I’m not the player seen on the pitch today.
Lazio will be facing Atalanta once again in an upcoming Serie A matchup. If Hoedt does go on to earn a start for the match, this could be a golden opportunity for him to have a redemption showing and help the side to a possible win.
I think it is the problem of quality, not determination. If Lazio aim for higher, they must bring in defenders with better quality.
