Lazio recently addressed one of its notable needs over the ongoing winter transfer window when it signed AC Milan defender Mateo Musacchio on a permanent transfer deal. However, the club’s board may not be done shoring up the team’s defensive line with more depth.
According to a report from the Italian-based outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Sassuolo is also joining Lazio in the preliminary interest of Polish prospect and Rakow Czestochowa defender Kamil Piatkowski.
The 20-year-old defender is on the transfer radar of Lazio sporting director Igli Tare. However, he may soon have competition from Sassuolo as the report adds that Sassuolo sporting director Giovanni Carnevali is also considering signing the talent.
Sassuolo would be interested in pushing to sign Piatkowski for a €3 million transfer fee over the ongoing winter window.
Piatkowski has totaled for 16 appearances in all competitions for Rakow Czestochowa so far this season, which includes a run of 14 straight starts in Ekstraklasa league play.
The Polish defender will have a pair of seasons left on his contract following his current campaign.
