Former AC Milan Sporting Director on Mateo Musacchio’s Arrival to Lazio

Lazio had one objective this winter transfer window, which was to add some depth to their defense.

The Biancocelesti were able to check off this need when they brought in AC Milan defender Mateo Musacchio this week on a six-month deal with an option for two further years attached to appearances and other objectives.

During an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com, former Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli, the person who brought Musacchio to the Rossoneri from Villarreal CF in 2017, had a quick comment over the transaction.

Musacchio is a great professional. An excellent defender. He will do very well. Congratulations to Lazio.

There’s no timetable of when Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi will integrate Musacchio into the starting eleven. The Biancocelesti manager stated that if he doesn’t start against Atalanta BC this weekend, he will see time on the pitch as a substitute.

Musacchio’s arrival provides some relief for Lazio at central defense as the club will be without Brazil international defender Luiz Felipe. The 23-year-old underwent ankle surgery and will be out for at least two months.
